SPARTANBURG, S.C.- The Wofford women's lacrosse team was able to get eight goals on the board against the Boston University on Friday afternoon, but the Terriers from Boston were able to pick up the 15-8 win at Gibbs Stadium.
After scoring one goal in their first two games of the season the Terriers (0-3) had three players score two goals and five goals.
Leah Hurley,
Emma Krasinski and
Olivia Abe each scored two goals for Wofford.
Shadan Bankston added one along with
Carlie Cutinella.
Brenna Duley added an assist for Wofford and
Barrett Rowe led Wofford with three ground balls.
Boston University (4-0) was led by Tobey Tick with four goals and an assist. Claire Gola and Hannah Tillier both scored three goals and an assist for Boston. Quinn Ferry led the team with three ground balls.
The game was scoreless until the 7:58 mark in the first quarter before Abe was able to give Wofford their first lead of the season.
Over the remainder of the first quarter Boston was able to score five goals and take a lead they wouldn't relinquish the remainder of the game. Abe was able add her second goal of the day with 22 seconds left in the first quarter.
In the second quarter Bankston and Krasinski both added goals and Boston added six to take an 11-4 half time lead. Krasinski would also open the scoring in the third quarter before three goals by Boston had the score at 14-5 going to the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter Wofford was able to outscore Boston 3-1 as Cutinella added one and Hurley scored two goals. The final goal came with 11:11 remaining as neither team was able to add another one. Boston scored their 15
th and final goal shortly before the Cutinella goal.
