Men’s Golf Claims Mickey Mouse Intercollegiate

Matthew Larkin wins low medalist honors to pace Terriers

Larkin earned his first-career victory at 11-under par
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – The Wofford men's golf team opened its spring slate in style at the Mickey Mouse Intercollegiate, scoring 852 to earn the tournament crown at 12-under par. Individually, Matthew Larkin and Harry Jones paced the Terriers as the duo finished first and second, respectively, at Disney's Palm Golf Course, a par-72, 6,870-yard course.

This is Wofford's first team title at an event since winning its own Wofford Invitational last April. The Terriers shot 285-283-284 en route to a 12-under score of 852. The 12-under mark ties for the seventh-best score in relation to par in program history.

The Terriers finished as the only team under par over the three-day, 16-team event, with second-place IUPUI carding 874 at 10-over. Wofford tallied 55 birdies as a team in the event, most among the competitors.

Matthew Larkin earned his first-career win in the 91-player field with a 205 score, 11-under par. Larkin shot 68-68-69 to earn the third-best individual score in relation to par in program history. Larkin is the first Terrier to claim low medalist at an event since Cedric Otten won last season's Wofford Invitational. Larkin's 15 birdies tied for the most in the tournament.

Harry Jones was right behind his teammate, placing second with a 71-68-69 mark for 208 overall, 8-under par. The placement is Jones' third-career top-5 result. Jones also notched an eagle in the event, one of the two by a Terrier. His 13 birdies were third-most in the field.

Cedric Otten just missed out on giving Wofford three players in the top 10, but with a tie for 13th he did hand the Terriers three in the top 20. Otten (73-73-72) shot 218 at 2-over par to claim the sixth top-20 result of his career. Otten was the other Terrier with an eagle in the event, and he added 12 birdies.

Walker Jones (73-74-74) tied for 27th with a score of 221, five-over par. Max Cranford (75-76-80) shot 231 to tie for 68th and round out Wofford's lineup. Ben Jordan (77-83-72) competed as an individual, placing in a tie for 74th with a 232 mark.

After a stellar start to the spring, the Terriers will return to the Palmetto State in a couple weeks for a two-day event in Aiken, S.C. Wofford will take part in the Cleveland Golf Palmetto from March 6-7, hosted by USC Aiken.
