MISSION VIEJO, Calif. – The Wofford women's golf team participated in The Beach Invitational Monday and Tuesday, placing ninth with a 947 score at the par-72 Mission Viejo Country Club over the two-day event. Freshman
Lilli Horn paced the Terriers by placing in a tie for 13
th, her first-career top-20 finish.
The Terriers scored 83 over par at 947 to place ninth out of 15 teams. The 21
st-ranked UCLA squad won the event with a 47-over 911. Wofford earned wins over Oral Roberts, UC Irvine, CSU Fullerton, Boise State, Northern Illinois and Murray State. Wofford's 22 birdies tied for second most in the 15-team field.
Lilli Horn led the way for Wofford with a 232 score,16-over par. After posting a 73 in round one, Horn had a tough 83 in round two. But she bounced back with a 76 in round three to tie for 13
th. The result is the first top 20 of the freshman's career. Horn notched six birdies, one shy of tying for the lead among the players.
Sam Houston's Zulaikah Nasser earned low medalist honors in the 87-player field at 6-over par with a 222 score.
Nicole Amos tied for 25
th with a score of 236. The senior carded 81-79-76, improving with each round. Amos recorded six birdies to tie with Horn for second most in the field.
Xuan Khue Minh Doan (83-75-79) scored 237 to tie for 31
st.
Lindsey Hollis (77-84-81) recorded a 242 to place 52
nd.
Maggie Jackson (86-84-81) rounds out the Terrier lineup with a score of 251, placing in a tie for 75
th.
The Terriers will be back in action from March 17-19 in Hilton Head, S.C. when they host the Low Country Invitational at the Moss Creek Golf Club.
