AIKEN, S.C. – The Wofford men's golf team was back in action at the Palmetto Golf Club, carding an 871 to finish in a tie for ninth in the 15-team field at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate. With a 4-over 214,
Matthew Larkin led the Terriers, finishing 17
th individually.
Over the two-day, three-round event, Wofford shot 284-296-291 to finish with a score of 871 and tie for ninth with Temple. The Terriers earned wins over Francis Marion, Presbyterian, Samford, Gardner-Webb and Dartmouth. With 160 pars, Wofford tied for the third most in the field. South Carolina won the event with an 838 score, the only team under par with a 2-under mark.
Matthew Larkin was the top Terrier, following a win in his last outing with another top-20 placement. He carded 71-72-71 en route to a 4-over 214 score and 17
th-place finish. Larkin notched 35 pars, the sixth most in the field.
Mercer's Tobias Jonsson won low-medalist honors in the 75-player field with a 6-under 204 score.
Harry Jones carded 71-73-74 for a 218 mark. He tied for 28
th with an 8-over score.
Jackson Hill tied for 37
th with a 221 score. He posted a first-round 71, but a 78 in round two proved difficult to overcome, but he did bounce back with a 72 in the final round.
Cedric Otten tied for 45
th with a 222 score. He was another one of four Terriers to score a 71 in round one. Otten recorded 12 birdies, most on the squad and tied for fourth most in the event.
Walker Jones rounds out the Wofford lineup with a score of 225, finishing in a tie for 53
rd. His 36 pars tied for fifth most in the field.
Wofford will be back in action at Linger Longer, hosted by fellow SoCon foe Mercer in Greensboro, Ga. The event will run from Sunday, March 19 to Tuesday, March 21.
