HIGH POINT, N.C. - The Wofford women's lacrosse team was unable to overcome a strong second quarter by High Point as the Panthers picked up an 18-10 win on Saturday afternoon at Vert Stadium.
Wofford (6-9, 3-4 Big South) scored ten goals, including three from
Carley Irvin to lead the team.
Leah Hurley added two goals and the Terriers also had one each from
Brenna Duley,
Ainsleigh Mancini,
Emma Gentile,
Emma Krasinski and
Olivia Abe. Abe added four assists for a team-high five points. The Panthers (6-9, 5-2 Big South) had three goals from Emma Genovese to lead the team.
Ella Smithers got the start in net for Wofford, while
Aislinn Washburn played the final 24 minutes. Taylor Suplee started and got the win in net for High Point.
High Point started the game with the first two goals before
Leah Hurley got the Terriers on the board with 9:53 to play in the first quarter. Gentile would also score but the Terriers trailed 4-2 after one quarter.
In the second quarter, High Point scored four straight goals to pull away before Irvin scored the Terriers third goal with an assist from Abe. At the break the Panthers led 8-3.
Irvin and Krasinski scored in the third quarter, but High Point added seven goals to take a 15-5 lead after three quarters.
In the fourth quarter the Terriers outscored the Panthers 5-3 as Duley, Mancini, Hurley, Irvin and Abe all scored. High Point added the last goal with 13 seconds left to make the final score 18-10.

Wofford will return to Gibbs Stadium and take on Furman at 6 P.M. on Wednesday. This will be the final home game of the 2023 season for the Terriers.
