Women’s Lacrosse Falls to Furman In Home Finale

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - In the final home game of the 2023 season, the Wofford women's lacrosse team fell to the Furman Paladins by a score of 23-13 on Wednesday night at Gibbs Stadium.
 
Wofford (6-10,3-5 Big South) had eleven different players score and were led in the game by Carlie Cutinella and Emma Gentile who both scored two goals. The Terriers also had goals from Addison Witkowski, Emma Stalteri, Brenna Duley, Carley Irvin, Emma Krasinski, Olivia Abe, Vivian Chiomento, Ainsley Towle and Laura Montagna. Abe also added two assists on the evening for three points.
 
In the first quarter the Paladins (9-7, 6-2 Big South) were able to get on the board with first two goals of the game. Gentile got Wofford on the board before another Furman goal was followed by a goal from Addison Witkowski. Carley Irvin cut the deficit to only one but a late Furman goal gave the Paladins a 5-3 lead after the first.
 
In the second quarter, a Paladins goal was followed up with goals from Kraskinski and Cutinella to get the game to 6-5. Furman then responded by scoring eight straight goals across the second and third quarter and the Terriers were unable to catch up.
 
Second half goals from Stalteri, Cutinella, Abe, Chiomento, Montagna and Towle got Wofford up to 13 goals but Furman was able to maintain their lead and close it out at 23-13.
 
The win in net for Furman went to Lily Rathburn while Aislinn Washburn got the loss for the Terriers.
