Elon, N.C. – Wofford women's soccer failed to put anything on the scoreboard on limited opportunities on Sunday, August 20th's, 3-0 loss to Elon from Rudd Field.
Elon would open scoring for the day in the 16th minute courtesy of a penalty kick awarded for an inadvertent hand ball in the box by senior midfielder
Addie Marlett. The Phoenix would convert the shot just past the outstretched hand of goalkeeper
Caroline Doss for a 1-0 lead. Gabby Hoschek would double the Elon lead in the 30th minute for a 2-0 lead that would hold at the half. The Terrier counterattack was never able to find their footing and registered just one shot in the opening 45. Junior
Caileen Almeida found space in the 35th minute but was unable to curl the shot into the net and ended up missing just wide.
Head Coach
Elissa Post subbed in sophomore
Rylee Godbold in goal for the second half, which helped stem the tide. A goal in the 49th minute gave Elon its final goal for the day, but the sophomore was able to record a career high three saves.
Coming up next for the Terriers is the first of a short two match home stand, starting with USC Upstate on Thursday, August 24, at 7 PM from Snyder Field. For fans unable to make the match, ESPN+ will be streaming the contest.
