Spartanburg, S.C.- Wofford women's soccer was on the wrong side of the scoreboard in a 5-0 loss to the defending Southern Conference champion Samford Bulldogs on Sunday, September 24.
The Bulldogs gained control of the match early on the strength of two goals within the first 11 minutes of the match and the Terriers could only counter with a singular shot off target from sophomore
Ansley Elizalde. Samford would put another goal in the net in the 28th minute and threatened to widen the gap but four saves from senior goalkeeper
Caroline Doss prevented anything more. Wofford offense found some footing late in the match but were unable to put any of those shots on target.
Up next for the Terriers are a pair of road matches beginning with Mercer on Thursday, September 28, and Western Carolina on Sunday, October 1. Last season Wofford and Mercer played to a 0-0 draw here in Spartanburg before trying to avenge a 3-0 loss to Western Carolina suffered last season in Cullowhee, North Carolina. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
