Birmingham, AL – Junior
Corey Tripp hit the game-tying three-pointer with 17 seconds left, but Wofford men's basketball conceded the game winning layup to Samford with 0.7 seconds to drop the contest 81-79.
Tripp's three-pointer punctuated a night in which Wofford tied its season-high in triples, knocking down 17-of-33 and marked the first time Wofford has made 15+ three-pointers multiple times in a season, against D-I competition, since the 2018-19 season. Pacing the Terriers from deep was sophomore
Chase Cormier, who shot 5-for-6 from deep to go along with a rebound and two assists.
His 15 points not only led the team but also was his highest scoring output since scoring 17 against Canisius on November 24, 2023. Right behind Cormier on the scoresheet was junior
Dillon Bailey- scoring 14 points on 5-for-9 shooting (4-for-6 from three), including opening the game scoring eight of the first 11 Wofford points.
On the season Wofford dropped to 10-3 in games in which it makes ten or more three-pointers, and the first such loss to a non-power five team.

Kyler Filewich meanwhile claimed sole possession of second place in assist-to-turnover ratio since the start of conference play after dishing out six assists and committing no turnovers. Filewich finished his night having notched double-double number eight with 10 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 1 steal. His next double-double ties him for most in a single season by a Terrier since Lee Skinner in the 2013-14 season.
At 5-4 in the SoCon, Wofford sits tied for fifth with Western Carolina going into Saturday, February 3rd's rematch with the Catamounts in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Tip off for that match is slated for 4 PM and can be viewed on ESPN+.
