SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford women's soccer team fell 6-1 to the Western Carolina Catamounts on Sunday afternoon at Snyder Field.
Sydney Soehn scored the lone goal of the day for the Terriers, marking the first score Western Carolina has conceded since August 25.
The Catamounts had a hot start, getting on the board in just the third minute of the game to take a quick 1-0 lead. Western Carolina continued its offensive showcase, scoring three more goals in the first half with the scores coming in the 12
th, 18
th and 27
th minutes.
Kate Markey took a shot in the closing minutes of the half, but a Catamount defender blocked it. Wofford would head into the break trailing 4-0.
The Catamounts were the first to find the net in the second half, extending their lead to 5-1 with a 56
th-minute goal. The Terriers responded, however, with a nice header from
Sydney Soehn who scored her first-career goal on Sunday afternoon. The score came from a beautifully placed ball by
Bailey Mullen on a free kick. The goal from Soehn served as the first goal the Catamounts have given up since August 25, and the first goal the team has given up in conference play. Western Carolina scored the last goal of the game for either side in the 57
th minute, taking a 6-1 lead for the remainder of the day.
The Catamounts out-shot Wofford 25 to seven, including 15 shots on goal compared to the Terriers' two. Western Carolina finished the day with seven corner kicks. Wofford keepers

Rylee Godbold split time in goal with Navola tallying five saves and Godbold finishing with four.
The Terriers will look to bounce back from two tough home losses on Thursday as the team hosts VMI on Snyder Field at 6:00 pm.
