From The Athletics Director's Desk - November

This time of year is one of the busiest for the Terriers, as the fall sports seasons near conclusion and winter sports are getting underway. Football has won back-to-back road games against Samford and Furman, and we look forward to having the team back home this Saturday as we host The Citadel in the Military Appreciation game (see more below). Both the men's and women's basketball teams had impressive wins to open the campaign last week at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium. Women's golf came away with a title at the Fripp Island Intercollegiate to close out their fall season. The men's and women's soccer teams each had opening round wins in the Southern Conference Tournament. The men reached the semifinals, where they were tied 1-1 after two overtimes and were ultimately defeated 5-3 in penalty kicks by #2 seed East Tennessee State. In addition, volleyball is currently in second place in the Southern Conference standings with two games remaining before the 2024 SoCon Tournament will be held in Spartanburg.

WE ARE HOSTING!
The 2024 Ingles Southern Conference Volleyball Championship, originally slated for Asheville, North Carolina, will be contested Nov. 21-24 at the Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium. Wofford hosted the tournament last season and won for the first time in program history.

FINAL HOME FOOTBALL GAME
On Saturday, Nov. 16, the football team will close out their home schedule against The Citadel. We will honor our graduating seniors prior to kick-off, and it will also be our Military Appreciation game. The newly installed Wofford Military Memorial will be dedicated prior to the game at 10 a.m. between Main Building and DuPré House. Remember to have your children on the field 30 minutes prior to kick-off to take part in the Tornado of Terriers! The game will also be one of the first games to air on the Palmetto Sports and Entertainment Network (WHNS 21.2, Spectrum 195) in the Upstate. Tickets for the game can be purchased online at www.ticketreturn.com/TRMobile/#/tickets/client?ClientID=113.

We look forward to having him with us. Contact him at wheelerpk@wofford.edu with any Terrier Club questions. We also thank Stephanie Lancaster, assistant director of the Terrier Club for engagement, for her hard work over the past 10 years in the athletics department. Omar Elmore, who was the director of video services and recently took on the additional role overseeing the department's social media efforts, has also moved on. Both of them will be missed.
