SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College men's tennis team earned a 7-0 win over Emmanuel on Saturday at the Reeves Tennis Center. The Terriers won the doubles point and then added six singles wins for the sweep of the Lions.
In doubles,
Will Fullett and
Robbie Young picked up a 6-1 win at the #1 position.
Max Graham and
Jack Deveney added a 6-1 win at the #3 position to clinch the doubles point. The third match was unfinished.
Freshman
Jack Deveney started singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win at the #5 position.
Robbie Young then picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win at the #4 position and a 6-3, 6-1 win by
Ashe Ray at the #2 position earned the victory for the Terriers.
Ian Rasheed added a 6-1, 6-2 win at the #6 position and
Will Fullett had a 6-3, 6-1 win at the #3 spot. At #1 singles,
Max Graham won the first set 6-4, lost the second set 4-6 and then won the tiebreaker 10-6 to complete the sweep.
"Toughness and discipline won the match today," said head coach
Rod Ray. "Three matches in three days is not easy. We showed that we aren't afraid of what is difficult and we care about each other."
Wofford (2-3) will remain at home with a match on Tuesday against Limestone at 2:30 p.m. The Lions are now 3-1 overall.
