Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Tyler Zaubi

Men’s Basketball Unable to Capitalize on Early Chances

Spartanburg, SC – Wofford men's basketball turned UNCG over on its first three possessions but were unable to come away with any points, ultimately dropping the contest 58-47 to the Spartans.

The Terriers were tasked with overcoming another slow start, surrendering an 8-0 run to UNCG going into the first media break while missing their first seven shots. A brief drought from Spartans allowed Wofford to claim a 10-8 lead at the 11:40 mark but were outscored 30-16 the rest of the way with nine turnovers and 2-for-14 perimeter shooting.

Wofford pulled within nine at the 13:00 minute mark of the second half, but UNCG rattled off a quick 5-0 run in the following 99 seconds leading into the under 12 media timeout and didn't allow the Terriers any closer than 11 the rest of the game.
As a team, the Terriers turned in a season low 32.6% from the field and 20% from beyond the three-point line while committing a season high 18 turnovers. Junior

Kyler Filewich did add 11 rebounds and five more assists to his stat line, now currently sitting fifth in rebounds and sixth in assists since the start of conference play (remained second in assist-to-turnover ratio).

Junior Corey Tripp led the Terriers in scoring with 13 points, six of which came from the free throw line (6-for-6 from the line are Tripp's most free throws since shooting 7-for-7 at Western Carolina in January 6, 2024).

Up next for the Terriers is a two-game road swing- starting first at Chattanooga on Wednesday, February 21, and then ending at Furman on Saturday, February 24. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+ with the former tipping at 7 PM and the latter at 2 PM.
