CLEMSON, S.C. – The Wofford College men's tennis team was defeated 7-0 on Thursday afternoon by Clemson at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility. The Tigers picked up the doubles point and then swept all six singles matches.
In doubles, the Tigers had a 6-0 win at the #2 position and a 6-3 win at the #1 position to claim the point.
Ian Rasheed and
Ashe Ray were down 4-3 at the #3 position when the match was unfinished.
Clemson earned straight-set wins at the #1, #2, #5 and #6 positions to clinch the match. At #4 singles,
Robbie Young won the first set 6-4 and lost the second set 3-6. In the third set tiebreaker, the Tigers won 10-8 to take the match. Playing #3 singles,
Will Fullett lost the first set 7-5 and then was tied 6-6 in the second set before the Tigers won the tiebreaker.
Wofford (3-4) will be back on the road Saturday at S.C. State for a 1:00 p.m. match and then play at the College of Charleston on Sunday at noon. The Terriers are back home on Tuesday, February 27 against Belmont Abbey.
