SPARTANBURG, S.C. – On Thursday afternoon, the Wofford College men's tennis team earned a 7-0 sweep of North Greenville at the Reeves Tennis Center. After winning all three doubles matches, the Terriers swept all six singles matches in straight sets.
In doubles,
Robbie Young and
Will Fullett had a 6-1 win at the #1 position.
Ashe Ray and
Ian Rasheed added a 6-1 win at the #3 position to claim the doubles point.
Max Graham and
Hugo Rask then picked up a 6-1 win at the #2 position to sweep doubles.
Singles matches began with
Max Graham taking a 6-2, 6-1 win at the #1 position.
Jack Deveney added a 6-2, 6-4 win at #5 singles and a 6-3, 7-5 win by
Will Fullett at #3 singles clinched the match for Wofford.
Robbie Young then had a 6-2, 6-4 win at the #5 position. At #2 singles,
Ashe Ray won the first set 6-4. He trailed 4-5 in the second set but won back-to-back games to win 7-5. In the final match,
Alex Horn had a 6-2, 6-1 win for the Terriers.
"I'm proud of the work that our team is putting in," said head coach
Rod Ray. "We're growing and developing. Today's play is a testament to our work. We enjoyed having a great group of fans supporting us today."
Wofford (5-5) begins Southern Conference play on Saturday when the Terriers host The Citadel at 1:00 p.m.
