SPARTANBURG, S.C. – On Senior Day, the Wofford College men's tennis team was defeated 4-3 by Chattanooga at the Reeves Tennis Center. The Mocs won the doubles point and the two teams split the six singles matches for the final score.
 
In doubles, the Mocs earned a 6-2 win at the #1 position. At the #2 position, the Mocs were up 4-1 before the pair of Alex Horn and Hugo Rask came back to tie it at 4-4. The Mocs claimed the final two games for a 6-4 win which clinched the doubles point. Ashe Ray and Ian Rasheed trailed 1-3 at #3 doubles, but rallied to tie it at 4-4. Wofford held serve for a 5-4 lead and Chattanooga also held for a 5-5 score. After the Terriers held for a 6-5 lead, the Mocs held for a 6-6 tie and then they took the tiebreaker 7-2.   
 
The Mocs took the first two singles matches in straight sets at the #1 and #4 positions. At #3 singles, Ashe Ray picked up a 6-1, 6-4 win to get the Terriers on the board. Robbie Young took the first set at #2 singles 7-6 by winning the tiebreaker 7-4. He won the second set 6-2 for the win with the final point a service ace.
 
The final two matches were decided in three sets. Alex Horn lost the first set 4-6 at #6 singles and answered with a 6-4 win in the second set. In the third set, he was down 3-4 before winning three straight to take a 6-4 win for the match. With the score tied at 3-3 overall, the #5 singles match remained. Will Fullett won the first set 7-6 with a 8-6 tiebreaker. After dropping the second set, the third was tied at 4-4 and 5-5 before the Mocs won the final two games for a 7-5 win which decided the overall match as well.
 
Prior to the match, Wofford's three seniors – Will Fullett, Alex Horn and Ashe Ray – were honored in their final home appearance. Wofford (7-9, 2-3) will play at Samford on April 6 and at Furman on April 10 to conclude the regular season. Chattanooga is now 8-11 overall and 2-1 in SoCon play.
