Football Welcomes Additional Newcomers

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College football program has announced thirteen additional newcomers who have signed a National Letter of Intent or a letter of commitment to join the Terriers.
 
These thirteen student-athletes join the 18 that signed in December and January to bring the total of newcomers to 31 overall.
 
The Terriers will welcome three players on offense and nine players on defense, along with one specialist. The student-athletes include seven from South Carolina and three from Georgia.    
 
The team will begin spring practice on March 12 and end with a spring game on April 20.
 
The eligibility of all student-athletes is contingent upon admission to Wofford College and compliance with all NCAA rules, including registration with the NCAA Eligibility Center.

2024 Newcomers
 
Mark Arthur (6-1, 190, Waxhaw, N.C.) was a four-year letterman at defensive back and wide receiver for Marvin Ridge High School. As a senior he had 55 tackles and one interception on defense and had 34 catches for 594 yards and seven touchdowns on offense, earning All-Conference honors. During his junior season had 43 tackles and two interceptions, along with 23 catches for 335 yards and three touchdowns to earn All-Conference honors. He also played baseball.
 
Whit Blackburn (6-1, 205, Atlanta, Ga.) earned a pair of letters at Marist High School at linebacker. During his senior season he led the team with 101 tackles and had three sacks and three interceptions. He earned first team All-Region, first team All-Metro and honorable mention All-State recognition. He also lettered in baseball.
 
Kaden Brown (5-9, 212, Lutz, Fla.) was a four-year varsity letterman at Christ School. He was named team MVP twice and was a three-year captain. During his senior season, he had 196 carries for 1,034 yards and nine touchdowns. As a junior, he was limited to 49 carries and 155 yards with four touchdowns due to injury. He also played lacrosse.
 
Cavan Craig (5-11, 195, Charleston, S.C.) was a three-year letterman at kicker for Bishop England. As a senior, he averaged 42.9 yards per punt and averaged 41.3 yards per punt as a junior. He was named second team All-Low Country. He also played soccer for two seasons.
 
Cooper Horton (6-4, 245, Columbia, S.C.) was a four-year starter on the offensive and defensive lines at Heathwood Hall. As a senior he had 82 tackles and eight sacks, while not allowing a sack. He was named first team All-State and a SCISA All-Star, along with second team All-Midlands recognition. During his junior season he had 30 tackles and six sacks as he earned All-State honors. He also played lacrosse and basketball.
 
John Jaraczewski (6-0, 230, Greenville, S.C.) started all four years at St. Joseph's Catholic School at linebacker, earning All-Region honors three times. The team was 11-3 his senior season, reaching the Upper State finals. He had 139 total tackles with 22 tackles for loss and five sacks to earn All-Region and All-State honors. During his junior season, he had a school-record 159 total tackles with 16 tackles for loss as he was named All-Region. He also played baseball.
 
Perrin Ketchin (6-0, 185, Mt. Pleasant, S.C.) was a three-year letterman in the secondary at Lucy Beckman High School. As a senior he had 44 tackles, 15 pass break-ups and six interceptions to earn All-Region and All-Low Country honors. During his junior season had 45 tackles, 14 pass break-ups and five interceptions to earn All-Region recognition. Also lettered in baseball. Both of his parents were student-athletes at Wofford.
 
Trenton Kintigh (6-2, 275, North Port, Fla.) is a transfer from Old Dominion. He enrolled at Wofford in the spring of 2024 after not seeing game action in the fall of 2023. A four-year starter on the line at Venice High School, he had 73 tackles and two sacks, along with four tackles for loss as a senior. During his junior season had 85 tackles and six sacks as the team won the state championship. He also ran track and was on the wrestling team.
 
Mitchell McKay (6-3, 260, Columbia, S.C.) was a three-year starter on the defensive and offensive line at Heathwood Hall. As a senior he had 40 tackles and five tackles for loss as he earned honorable mention All-State recognition. He started in the SCISA North-South All-Star game. During his junior season he had 31 tackles and nine tackles for loss. He also competed in track and field, primarily throwing the shot and discus.
 
Harry Newton (6-5, 215, Waynesboro, Ga.) started at tight end for two seasons at Burke County High School. As s senior he has two catches for 47 and two touchdowns, while adding 22 tackles and 4.5 sacks as a defensive end. He also played golf and competed on the track team.
 
Maverick Schippmann (6-0, 215, Buford, Ga.) was a linebacker and running back at Buford High School as a senior. He recorded 53 tackles with a pair of sacks and a blocked punt. He played his previous three seasons at South Forsyth High School. As a junior he had 1,049 all-purpose yards and scored 13 touchdowns, along with 36 tackles and four sacks to earn All-Region and All-County honors. Also competed in track and field and led the lacrosse team to a final four appearance.
 
DJ Tyler (6-3, 203, Columbia, S.C.) is a transfer from Gardner-Webb. He did not see game action in 2023 and enrolled at Wofford for the 2024 spring semester. He played his senior season at Blythewood High School. The team was 9-2 and won a region title, while advancing to the second round of the state playoffs. He recorded 41 catches for 810 yards and eleven touchdowns as he earned All-Region, All-Midlands and All-State honors. He also had a 97-yard touchdown reception that was the longest in school history.
 
Corley Watson (6-0, 215, Summerville, S.C.) was a four-year starter at Pinewood Preparatory, primarily at linebacker. As a senior he has 112 tackles with 18 tackles for loss and two sacks to earn first team All-State honors. During his sophomore season he had 117 tackles with four sacks, earning first team All-Region recognition. He also played baseball for one season and was president of the SGA.
