Men’s Golf Concludes Season at SoCon Championship

GREENSBORO, Ga. – The Wofford men's golf team finished its 2023-24 campaign at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Course, a par-72, 7,174-yard course, Tuesday afternoon. The Terriers placed sixth in the Southern Conference Championship with an 877 score.

In the three-day event, Wofford opened with a 300 before bouncing back on day two with a 280. However, a 297 in the final round dropped the Terriers down a spot to sixth place with a 13-over team score.

ETSU claimed the 2024 SoCon Championship by two strokes over Chattanooga with 30-under, 834 score in the eight-team event.

Cedric Otten and Ben Jordan tied atop the Terrier leaderboard, tying for 12th place in the 40-player field. They each scored 216 at even par. Otten posted rounds of 73-70-73. Jordan opened strong with a 70 before carding a 69 on day two to sit in fifth place. However, a final-round 77 dropped Jordan to 12th. But both Terriers earn top-20 results. The finish is the third top 20 of Jordan's career, and it is the ninth of Otten's. It marks back-to-back top-20s for Otten after he tied for the low medalist honor last week in the Wofford Invitational. Otten posted 38 pars in the event, third most among the competitors. Both Jordan and Otten recorded an eagle, two of the three by the Terriers.

There was a tie atop the SoCon leaderboard between a pair of Buccaneers. Matty Dodd-Berry and Mats Ege both posted 13-under, 203 scores for a co-low medalist finish.

Jay Beach finished in 25th at 6-over with a 222 score. Despite a 77 in round one, he rebounded nicely with a 69 in the second round before finishing with a 76. Beach tallied the third and final Wofford eagle. Matthew Larkin tied for 26th with a 223. After carding an 80 on day one, he settled in for a 72 and 71 to follow. Harry Jones wraps up the Terrier lineup in 39th with a score of 240 (84-76-80).

The 2023-24 season has concluded, and the Terriers will return to action in the fall to kick off the 2024-25 campaign.
