Boone, N.C. – The Wofford women's soccer team fell 5-0 in its first road contest of the year to Appalachian State University on Thursday evening at Appalachian Soccer Stadium.
 
The Mountaineers started the match with four quick shots in the first 15 minutes of action, including goals in the eighth and 13^th minutes to take a 2-0 lead. The Terriers would fire off two shots in response, but neither would find the back of the net.
 
Appalachian State registered its third goal of the match in the 27^th minute to extend the Terrier deficit to 3-0. Bailey Mullen and Ines Obradovac let out two strikes on target in response, but the Mountaineers countered both. Wofford would head into the break trailing 3-0.
 
The Mountaineers kept the pressure on, scoring their final two goals of the night in the first 10 minutes of the second half, extending the match to 5-0. The Terriers registered six more shots in the final 45 minutes, including two on goal.
 
The Terriers tallied 10 shots – four on goal, while Appalachian State totaled 17 with 10 on goal. Appalachian State took the edge in corner kicks, finishing the match with 10 compared to Wofford's six. Both teams had four saves.  
 
Wofford will have a seven-day hiatus before hosting the College of Charleston on Thursday, August 29. This will be the first matchup between the teams since 2012.
