SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Hall of Fame Committee of the Wofford College Terrier Club Board of Directors has announced four former student-athletes as the 2025 inductees into the school's Athletics Hall of Fame.
The group includes Catie Cronister '20 (volleyball), Shane Kirkley '08 (baseball), Joe Newman '20 (football), and Chloe Wanink '20 (women's basketball).
In addition, the Hall of Fame will honor David '74 and Sandra Neugent as the Distinguished Service Award recipients and Steve and Ashley Allen as Honorary Lettermen. The Hall of Fame induction ceremony is scheduled to take place on January 31, 2026.
The Hall of Fame recognizes "those former athletes and coaches who, by outstanding athletic achievement and service, have made lasting and significant contributions to the cause of sports at Wofford College, the Spartanburg community, South Carolina, and the nation."
Catie Cronister '20 – Volleyball
Played in 123 career matches … Career leader for kills (1,735), attacks (4,744), double-doubles (51), points (2,060) … Second all-time in kills per set (3.70) and points per set (4.39) … Third all-time in service aces (192) … Fourth in aces per set (0.41) … Only player in program history to record a triple-double, doing so twice… Season record for kills with 556 in 2017 … One of six Terriers to be a part of the 1,000 kills/1,000 digs club … Started all 31 matches as a senior in
2019, leading the team in kills (390) and service aces (44) ... Second on the team in digs (326) and blocks (62.0), ranking fourth with 49 assists ... Named to the 2019 All-SoCon Second Team after playing multiple positions in the lineup ... Named 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-District … As a junior in
2018, totaled 382 kills and 57 blocks in 111 sets played in 30 matches ... Averaged 3.44 kills per set and 2.50 digs per set, totaling 277 for the season ... Named First Team All-SoCon while leading the team with 48 service aces ... Recorded 12 double-doubles for the season with 20-plus kills five times … Named Co-SoCon Player of the Year as a sophomore in

Shane Kirkley '08– Baseball
Third baseman from Lugoff, South Carolina … Four-year letterman (2005-08) … Fifth in school history in games played (219) and fourth in games started (216) … Third in school history in career hits (260) and second in career runs scored (176) … Second in career RBIs (178), second in career home runs (50) and second in career total bases (480) … Posted a career batting average of .316 (823 at bats) … As a senior in
2008 was third on the team with a .315 batting average as he started 58 games … Led team with 15 home runs, 53 RBIs and was second in total bases (133) and third in hits (69) … Started 62 games as a junior in
2007 and had a .323 batting average, while finishing second on the team in home runs (16) and third in hits (80) … During his sophomore season in
2006 started all 55 games and hit .322 on the season … Led the team with 12 home runs, 65 hits and 115 total bases … As a freshman in
2005 started 40 games and led the team with 13 doubles as he had a .299 batting average … Named SoCon Player of the Month in March of 2008 … Member of 2007 team that won the Southern Conference tournament and made an NCAA Tournament appearance … Majored in finance.
Chloe Wanink '20 – Women's Basketball
Started 97 of 121 career games played … Second all-time with 1,789 points… Career leader in three-pointers made (235), three-point percentage (.417), games played (121), and minutes (3,595) … Second-most field goals made (673) … Free throw percentage (.823) is second… Scoring average of 14.8 is eighth… Fourth-most points in a season with 582 in 2018-19… Most three-pointers in a season with 73 in 2019-20… Best three-point percentage in a season with .474 in 2019-20 … Highest-scoring game in program history with 40 against Western Carolina in 2019 … Most field goals (17) and three-pointers (8) in a single game … As a senior in

2016-17: Appeared in and started all 30 games for the Terriers … Led the Terriers in points per game (16.1) and finished second on the team in assists per game (2.4) and third on the team in rebounds per game (5.9) … Was the only player in the SoCon to rank in the top 10 in the league in points, rebounds, and assists per game … Recorded three double-doubles … Led SoCon in 3-point field goal% (.394) and free throw % (.829) … Played 1,043 minutes, a program record for minutes in a season …

Joe Newman '20 – Football
Played in 41 career games with 25 starts at quarterback ... Helped lead Terriers to three SoCon titles and four NCAA Playoff appearances ... Ran 327 times for 1,837 yards and 22 touchdowns ... Was 168-of-299 passing for 2,414 yards and 15 touchdowns ... Had 4,251 yards of total offense in his career ... As a senior in
