CHATTANOOGA, TENN. – The Wofford volleyball team fell in four sets (14-25, 26-24, 20-25, 21-25) to the Chattanooga Mocs on Saturday night inside Maclellan Gym. The Terriers fall to 7-8, 3-1 while Chattanooga improves to 8-8, 2-2.

It was a balanced attack for the Terriers as four players finished the night with at least nine kills.
Chloe Smith paced the team with 11 kills while
Annemarie Rakoski had 10.
Natalie Arnold and
Bradley Brown closed the evening with nine kills apiece.
Emily Normand had a career-high six kills. The duo of
Taylor Pecht and
Maddy Frazier set the pace on the offensive end, both recording double-digit assists. Pecht had a team-high 24 helpers to make it six-straight matches with at least 20 assists. Frazier tallied 15.

On the defensive side,
Chloe Smith had 16 digs for her sixth double-double of the season.
Laney Klika notched 13, and
Taylor Pecht finished with 13 for her second double-double of the year.
Bradley Brown led the way at the net, recording two solo blocks and three assisted blocks.

Chattanooga ended the night with 60 kills on a .232 hitting percentage compared to 48 kills at a .176 rate for the Terriers. The Mocs also gained the edge in service aces as the team finished with eight while Wofford had five. Chattanooga totaled seven blocks to just four from the Terriers.

The Mocs came out firing in the first set, taking a commanding 5-0 lead early on. Wofford would jump on the board shortly after, but Chattanooga found a way to extend its lead to seven points, 17-10. The Terriers could not fight back, losing the first set 25-14.

Wofford got on the board first in the second set, but it was a back-and-forth affair after that. The teams traded blows over the next few rallies until Chattanooga took a 13-11 lead. Despite trailing 22-20, the Terriers scored four-straight points to regain the lead 24-22. The Mocs tied it up once more at 24-all, but Wofford would ultimately take set two 26-24.

The Terriers controlled set three early on, taking an 11-8 lead after a kill from
Natalie Arnold. Chattanooga found four consecutive points, however, to take its first lead of the third set. After trading points for a few rallies, the Mocs gained a comfortable four-point lead, 18-14. They would go on to win set three 25-20.

Wofford managed to score first in the fourth stanza, but Chattanooga did not go anywhere. After several lead changes, the Terriers finally took a 13-11 lead. The Mocs fought hard to take the lead, eventually overtaking Wofford 19-18. Chattanooga would claim set four 25-21 and win the match 3-1 to hand the Terriers their first conference loss of the season.

Wofford will be back at home on Friday, October 10, at 6:00 PM to take on the Mercer Bears. The match against Mercer will start a four-match homestand for the Terriers.
