SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford women's basketball team took down the Converse Valkyries 126-65 on Monday night inside of Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium. The 126 points from Wofford is a new program record – the previous was 116 against Erskine in 2016.
"It was a fun game for us," said head coach
Jimmy Garrity. "Everybody got to play a lot of minutes, everybody scored, and we played loose. We are talented and can score the ball. To come in and see some early shots go down was big for us. I was really happy with the way we made the extra pass and knocked our shots down."
The Terriers (1-0) finished the game shooting 59.3 percent (48-81) from the field and hit 45 percent (9-20) of their threes. The team held Converse to 30.4 percent (17-56) shooting. The Valkyries only made seven of their 35 attempts from deep. From the charity stripe, Wofford made 21 of its 28 attempts while Converse converted 24 of its 32 attempts.
