MACON, Ga. – The Wofford volleyball team defeated the Mercer Bears 3-1 on Saturday night inside of Hawkins Arena. The Terriers improve to 14-11, 10-4, while Mercer falls to 9-18, 5-9.

The Terriers would finish the night with 57 kills while hitting .402. Mercer totaled 45 kills and hit .173. Wofford dished out 54 assists while Mercer had 43. The Terriers dominated at the net, sending back 15 Mercer attacks while the bears had only one block. Wofford recorded eight aces, and Mercer had six.

Bradley Brown totaled a career-high 18 kills on a .593 hitting percentage.
Natalie Arnold was the other Terrier who finished with double-digit kills, as the junior tallied 11 kills on .588 hitting.
Taylor Pecht and
Maddy Frazier set the offense up, dishing out 26 and 21 assists, respectively. Four Terriers recorded two aces each, with
Bradley Brown,
Chloe Smith,
Caroline Przystup, and
Maddy Frazier contributing.

Laney Klika had 17 digs to lead the way for Wofford, while
Lauren Marschke and
Maddy Frazier followed behind with six each.

It was back-and-forth to start set one, but three consecutive points from Mercer allowed the team to gain its first comfortable lead of the night. With Wofford down 10-7, Mercer would continue to build upon its lead. The Bears would go up by as many as five points before taking set one 25-21.

Set two began with Wofford taking an early 6-3 lead after a pair of kills from both
Annemarie Rakoski and
Natalie Arnold. Mercer would respond a few rallies later with three-straight points to even the set at 9-9. The teams would trade points from there until a block by
Charlotte Bell forced a Mercer timeout with Wofford leading 18-16. The Terriers would go on to take set two 25-19.

The Terriers dominated the start of set three, going up 8-2 with help from a couple of kills by
Lauren Marschke. Wofford would continue to hold its steady lead and take a 13-5 advantage almost halfway through the third stanza. An 8-1 run would force a Mercer timeout. The hole was too big for the bears to climb out of, as Wofford would take set three 25-11.

Mercer was in control early on in set four, but Wofford used a 9-1 run to claim the lead. After back-to-back kills from
Bradley Brown, Mercer would be forced to burn a timeout with Wofford leading 12-6. The Terriers held firm control of their lead from that point on, taking set four 25-13 and the match 3-1.

Wofford will close out the regular season next weekend as the team will take trips to ETSU and UNCG. The Terriers will take on ETSU on Friday, November 14, at 6:00 p.m. before going to UNCG on Saturday night.
