BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Wofford College men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed in the Bulldog Invitational at the Birmingham Crossplex on Friday. The Terriers had numerous top ten performances and set multiple personal bests in the meet, including one school record.
In the finals of the 60 meters,
Ella Tennant was second (7.60) and Taylor-Jennings Ward (7.78) was third for the women.
Nigel Ransby had a personal best 6.95 in the men's race to place fifth.
JaKayla Campbell was fourth in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles in 8.79 after setting a personal best in the preliminaries.
Cameron Dalton ran a 21.76 in the 200 meters to place fourth. The men's 400 meters had
Zion Bennett place third in 48.96 and
Thomas Stamper was tenth in 49.74. In the women's 400 meters,
JaKayla Campbell was fifth in a personal best time of 58.48 and Tangela Green was ninth in 59.78.
Dannielle King took second place in the 800 meters in 2:16.82, with
Kristen Hallman coming in sixth with a personal best 2:21.29.
Liam Jones ran his fastest mile at 4:20.53 for third place, with
Andrew York taking tenth place at 4:31.64. The men's 3,000 meters had
Will Berger finish in third place in a school-record time of 8:44.20 and
Turner Knox (9:37.05) finish tenth.
Becca Hinds had a personal best in the women's 3,000 meters at 10:24.91 as she was seventh overall. In the 4x400 relay, the men's team of
Cameron Dalton,
Thomas Stamper,
Zion Bennett, and
Nigel Ransby was second overall. The women's team of Tangela Green,
Dannielle King,
JaKayla Campbell, and
Taylor Jennings-Ward was also second.
In the field events,
Olivia Bagg was fourth in the high jump with a personal best 1.61 meters and
Ava Cooper was seventh at 1.51 meters.
Ellie Sawicki was tenth in the shot put at 11.49 meters. In the men's triple jump, Patrick Green was fourth at 13.24 meters and
Preston Kut was sixth with a personal best 12.45 meters. The women's weight throw had three Terriers in the top ten, led by
Dani Emmen at 14.22 for seventh place, followed by
Ellie Sawicki (14.07 meters) and
Storm Owens (13.69 meters).
The meet featured nearly a dozen teams, including Arkansas State, Chattanooga, Memphis, Samford, South Alabama, and Western Kentucky.
Up next for the Terriers will be the 2025 Southern Conference Indoor Championship, held Feb. 28 and March 1 at VMI.
