HUMACAO, Puerto Rico – The Wofford women's golf team wrapped up its stint in Puerto Rico by placing 13
th in the Puerto Rico Shootout hosted by Ball State. Heavy rains forced the cancelation of the third and final day of competition at the Palmas del Mar Country Club Flamboyan Course.
Bella Kent led the Terriers by placing in 19
th with a score of 148.
Wofford totaled 611 with rounds of 306 and 305 to finish in 13
th. The Terriers were unable to try for a final day surge as the third round was canceled due to heavy rains. UNCG won the 13-team event with a 2-over 578 score, besting James Madison by five strokes.
Bella Kent was the top Terrier, earning her fifth top 20 placement of the season and the 11
th of her career by tying for 19
th. Kent was 4-over par with a 148, carding a 74 in each of the first two rounds.
Hannah Rabb of James Madison earned low medalist honors with a 139 score, 5-under par. She finished a stroke ahead of a pair of runners up in the 82-player field.
Regina Parra tied for 34
th with a score of 150. After a 76 in round one, she improved to card a 74 in the second round.
Lilli Horn was 58
th with a 155 score, carding rounds of 78 and 77.
Maggie Jackson tied for 68
th with rounds of 78 and 80 to total 158.
Taylor Burch rounded out the Terrier lineup in a tie for 71
st, carding 159 after rounds of 78 and 81.
Wofford returns to the Palmetto State in a couple of weeks to host the annual Low Country Intercollegiate. The three-day event will take place from March 21-23 at the Moss Creek Golf Club in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
