HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Wofford baseball team fell behind in the first inning to High Point Saturday evening at Williard Stadium and could not mount a comeback, dropping a 13-1 contest. The Terriers are 25-18 following the result as the Panthers improve to 28-14.

Cullen Condon (2-3) took the loss as the starter for Wofford, pitching 1.1 innings with six runs (five earned) allowed.
John Gray,
Wes Estes, and
Braden Hofmeyer all saw action out of the bullpen. Hofmeyer took to the mound for the first time since February 16 against Ohio, hurling 1.1 innings of scoreless and hitless ball. He struck out two.

HPU starter Wade Walton (5-3) picked up the win by pitching all 7.0 frames with just a run allowed on five hits.

The Terriers were outhit 13-5 on the day with the five base knocks dispersed evenly between
Niko Brini,
Ryan Wynn,
James Layman,
Ben Timblin, and
Tanner Hardin. Three of them went for extra bases with Wynn, Timblin, and Hardin all collecting doubles.
David Wiley brough home the lone Terrier run with a sacrifice fly.

HPU jumped in front quickly with a three-run first inning that began with a lead-off home run. From there, the Panthers scored three in the second, two in the third, and five in the fifth for a 13-0 lead.

In the top of the sixth, Wofford got on the board.
Tanner Hardin roped a lead-off automatic double down the left field line, and a flyout advanced him to third. He scored from there when
David Wiley lifted a sacrifice fly to left.

In the top of the seventh,
Ben Timblin delivered a pinch-hit double to keep Wofford fighting, but the Terriers were unable to score and fell 13-1.

The series will wrap up tomorrow with a doubleheader. Game one is set to begin at noon with both contests streaming on ESPN+.
