It was an exciting two weeks at Wofford as we saw the men's basketball team make an incredible run in the Southern Conference Championship to win the title and make the sixth NCAA Tournament appearance in school history. We appreciate all the support in Asheville and in Lexington for our team, along with all those who followed from afar. It was a great experience for everyone in the Wofford community.
April marks one year that I have been at Wofford. It also is the one year anniversary of a gift by Robby Atkins '65 to endow the director of athletics position at Wofford College. The support of donors like Robby provides the foundation that enables Wofford to deliver exceptional experiences for our student-athletes.
As we head into the final two months of the academic year, we look forward to seeing what additional history our student-athletes can make.
EXCELLENCE GAMES!
The Excellence Games are coming up soon! The Excellence Games are a two-day giving challenge Tuesday, April 22 through Wednesday, April 23. BASEBALL UPDATE
The baseball team has recorded two wins over Top-25 opponents so far (Kentucky and Troy) and also earned a victory over USC Upstate in the first ever game played at Fifth Third Park in downtown Spartanburg. Look for the Terriers to host a few games each season at the home of the Spartanburgers. The team has already reached the 20+ win mark as they prepare for the SoCon Tournament in Greenville this May.
UPCOMING FOOTBALL NON-CONFERENCE GAMES
While the Terriers will be making a return trip to Virginia Tech this fall, we have also made progress on adding games to future schedules. Additional games are scheduled against Ole Miss (2026), Clemson (2027), South Carolina (2028), Harvard (2028), and Charlotte (2029). We are working on additional games as well and will announce those once contracts have been signed.
SPRING SPORTS UPDATES
Several of our spring sports will be coming to a close this month. Women's tennis has tied the school record for wins in a season with 14. Both men's and women's tennis will compete at the Southern Conference Championships April 17-19 at Chattanooga. The women's golf team won the overall title at the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate and Bella Kent secured the individual win. The women's golf team will compete in the SoCon Championship from April 14-16 in Columbia, S.C., while the men's golf team has the SoCon Championship in Greensboro, Georgia, from April 20-22. Women's lacrosse has begun Big South play and the track and field teams have already been setting records during the outdoor season.
WOFFORD + adidas
Wofford Athletics has extended its partnership with adidas for five years through the end of 2030. adidas will continue to serve as the official apparel, footwear and uniform provider of the Terriers, with BSN SPORTS serving as the official equipment provider. Wofford and adidas have been partners for several decades, with adidas having a strong corporate presence in Spartanburg county.
SOCON AND SHRINERS HOSPITAL PATIENT AMBASSADOR PROGRAM
We're excited to be a part of the launch of the Shriners SoCon Showdown—a unique initiative supporting Shriners Children's Greenville by raising awareness and funds while pairing each school with a Shriners Patient Ambassador. At the end of April, we will be sending out information on social media on how you can support this program during the upcoming softball and baseball tournaments.
