JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Despite a late comeback push, the Wofford baseball team succumbed to a six-run fourth inning by ETSU Saturday afternoon at Thomas Stadium en route to a 10-6 Buccaneer win. Wofford drops to 29-23 (6-11 SoCon) as the Bucs improve to 36-13 (12-5 SoCon).

Three Terriers pitched in the contest with
Sheldon Egger (2-2) suffering the loss as the starter. He hurled 3.1 innings with seven runs allowed and two strikeouts.
Dylan Rhadans pitched 1.2 innings as the first reliever, and
John Gray tossed the final 3.0 frames with only one run allowed.

Jace Hyde (7-0) picked up the win as the ETSU starter with four runs (three earned) allowed on nine hits. Brady Frederick (3) secured a save by pitching two-thirds of an inning to close out the game.

Wofford was outhit 14-13 with
Ryan Wynn leading the way as the owner of three hits and two RBI.
Tyler Bak and
Cade Collins both posted two hits with Collins adding an RBI.
Andrew Mannelly added two RBI off the bench. Wofford accrued five doubles in the contest with Wynn posting two.
Niko Brini, Mannelly, and Collins each had one. Brini and Collins each swiped a base.

The Terriers struck first in the top of the third inning.
Niko Brini clubbed a two-out double that
Ryan Wynn followed with a single back up the middle for a 1-0 edge.

ETSU flipped the score in the bottom of the third with a pair of runs. An RBI groundout tied the contest before an RBI single pushed the Bucs in front 2-1.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Bucs posted six runs to pull in front by a margin of 8-1.

Wofford got a run back in the top of the fifth inning.
Cade Collins singled, and a fielding error put a second runner on. Later with runners on the corners, the Terriers executed the delayed double steal, which saw Collins swipe the plate to pull the Terriers within 8-2.

An RBI double in the bottom of the fifth regained that run for ETSU, making the score 9-2.

The resilient Terriers kept pushing back, plating two in the top of the seventh.
Adam Haber notched a pinch-hit single and then scored on Collins's double to right. The freshman then came home on Wynn's double down the left field line, making the score 9-4.
In the bottom of the eighth, ETSU secured an insurance run with an RBI double for a 10-4 lead.

The Terriers did not quit, providing a ninth-inning comeback push. Wynn doubled, and the bases were loaded after
Ethan Belk was hit by a pitch as a pinch hitter to precede a
Tanner Hardin walk.
Andrew Mannelly roped a double to right center that pushed across a pair, pulling Wofford to within 10-6. However, it was all Wofford could get as ETSU closed out the ballgame from there.

The series is now even with each team owning a win. The rubber match of the weekend is set for 1:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon.
