Women’s Soccer Wins Second Straight Match

CLINTON, S.C. – The Wofford women's soccer team won 3-1 against Presbyterian College to get their second straight win after an explosive second half on Sunday afternoon.

The Terriers had many scoring opportunities in the first half with Ellie Gower, Saachi Bureau and Julia Grier each having two shots. Ansley Elizalde contributed one shot to close off the first half.

The Terriers defense held strong in the first half with Mary Liese Grier taking charge to ensure the box was held tight.

The Terriers out shot Presbyterian eight to three, but all chances by the Terriers were short of breaking through.

The Terriers came back strong after the break with Kate Markey scoring 10 minutes into the half with an assist from Julia Grier. The Terriers' offense didn't stop there as Bureau tried to bring the lead up with her next two shots, but neither came through.

At the 69th minute, the Blue Hose found an opening in the Terriers' defense to sneak through to equalize the match.

Despite this, the Terriers answered back with two goals in a span of 10 minutes to take back the lead. Senior Aly Bernhard took the ball straight from kickoff and went unassisted to bring the Terriers 2-1.

In the 78th minute, Ines Obradovac and Bureau came off the bench to completely seal the game for the Terriers. Bureau took the ball from a throw in and lobbed it into the box for Obradovac to head into the goal for the 3-1 final margin.
