From the Athletics Director’s Desk -September 2025

The fall semester has gotten off to a strong start for the Terriers, both in the classroom and on the field. Our student-athletes have already received SoCon Player of the Week honors in football, volleyball, and women's golf. Men's and women's tennis are competing in fall tournaments, men's and women's soccer are beginning Southern Conference play, and the cross country teams have already run in a pair of meets. The rifle team and both basketball teams will be getting underway as well.

ALL-SPORTS WELCOME BACK BBQ
On Monday, September 1, we gathered student-athletes, coaches, and staff from all 20 sports for a welcome back BBQ. This was a great event to kick off the academic year, and we look forward to the teams supporting each other throughout the year.

A DAY FOR WOFFORD
The 2025 "A Day for Wofford" was held on Thursday, Sept. 25. This 24-hour giving event celebrated the collective impact of Terriers. Overall, athletics had 397 total donors to the Terrier Club and sport-specific Excellence Funds for a total of over $271,000 on the day.
If you were unable to make a gift on Thursday, contact the Terrier Club or visit https://advance.wofford.edu/portal/TerrierClubGiving

WELCOME HOME KEVIN GILTNER
We announced on September 23 that Kevin Giltner has been named the head coach of the men's basketball program. Giltner, a 2012 Wofford graduate and five-time Southern Conference champion as a coach and student-athlete, has spent the past six years on the coaching staff at Virginia Tech. Kevin will be able to immediately step in and lead our student-athletes as they prepare for the upcoming season. As a former player and assistant coach at Wofford, Kevin loves this place and understands what it means to represent the Wofford name on the front of the jersey. In addition, we have added Kevin McGeehan to the staff as an assistant coach after 12 seasons as the head coach at Campbell.

FOOTBALL HOME STAND
After playing three of the first four games on the road, the football team will host four of the next five games at Gibbs Stadium. The homestand includes both Homecoming as well as Family Weekend, and SoCon games against Western Carolina and Furman. Single game tickets are available for all games and the price remains one of the best values in the Southern Conference. The "Terrier Town" fan fest right outside Gibbs Stadium for pre-game fun, including food trucks and family-friendly activities will be open three hours before each game. Click here (https://woffordterriers.com/tickets) for more information and tickets.

OCTOBER 23 BASKETBALL
The Wofford men's and women's basketball teams will be holding an outdoor fan fest on October 23. This event will take place on campus and enable students and fans to get an up-close look at the teams. Stay tuned to our social media channels for more details.
