MACON, GA. – The Wofford women's basketball team defeated the Mercer Bears 67-64 on the road at Hawkins Arena on Saturday morning. The Terriers trailed 60-58 with four minutes left in the game but were able to comeback for their fifth-straight win.
Wofford improves to 11-9 with a 5-1 mark in Southern Conference play. The team has won six of its last seven games, including five in a row in the SoCon. Mercer falls to 12-8 with a 2-3 record in conference action. Freshman
Gabby Mundy scored a career-high 28 points, while
Queen Ikhiuwu tallied her fourth-straight double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Wofford finished the day shooting 21-of-55 (38.2%) from the field and made eight three-pointers at a 36.4 percent clip. Mercer shot 21-of-59 (35.6%) from the field and knocked in six three-pointers. The Terriers shot 17-of-24 (70.8%) from the free throw line. Mercer won the battle on the boards 40-37. The Terriers outscored Mercer 22-20 in the paint.
Gabby Mundy paced the way with a career-high 28 points, including 15 in the first half.
Queen Ikhiuwu followed behind with 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Ikhiuwu added 13 rebounds.
Molly Masingale had a team-high three assists.

Maddie Heiss swiped two steals each.
Mercer scored the first basket of the game, but Wofford scored 15 unanswered points in return, taking an early 15-2 lead over Mercer.
Gabby Mundy tallied a pair of triples in the run, along with five points from
Maddie Heiss. Wofford kept the Bears scoreless for over four minutes of gametime during the Mercer skid. An 8-2 run by the Bears got the game within seven points. The teams would trade baskets from there, with Wofford taking a 22-14 lead into the second quarter.
Gabby Mundy kicked off the scoring for the second quarter, giving Wofford a 24-14 lead. Seven unanswered points from Mercer shortened the deficit to three points with 5:36 left in the half. A three-pointer by
Gabby Mundy gave the team a nine-point lead with under a minute remaining, but Mercer was able to score a basket on its final possession. Wofford would end the half with a 32-25 advantage.
Gabby Mundy totaled 15 points on 6-of-13 shooting in the first half.
Mercer scored the first three points of the second half, but five-straight points from Wofford extended the lead back to nine points early in the third quarter. A 10-2 run from the Bears cut Wofford's lead to one point, 39-38. The Terriers made just one field goal in over five minutes of action during the skid. A pair of free throws from
Maddie Heiss, along with a triple by
Madi Hawk gave Wofford a 44-38 advantage with 3:15 left in the stanza. Both teams traded baskets from there, until the Terriers embarked on an 8-0 run at the end of the quarter. Wofford led 55-46 heading into the fourth frame.
Nine unanswered points from Mercer to start the final quarter tied the game at 57-all.
Gabby Mundy rattled in a free throw to give the team a one-point lead, but Mercer drained a three-pointer on the next possession to take its first lead, 60-58, since the opening basket of the game. Wofford was able to answer, however, as Mundy put home a layup on the other end to tie the game. The teams swapped points over the next few minutes, until
Gabby Mundy was fouled on a defensive rebound. The freshman made the first free throw but missed the second to give Wofford a one-point lead.
Molly Masingale was able to grab the offensive rebound, however, leading to a basket from
Queen Ikhiuwu to give Wofford a 67-64 lead. The Terriers found stops on the next few possessions to defeat Mercer 67-64.
