Maximus Pulley Named Academic All-American

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford College football student-athlete Maximus Pulley has been named to the 2025 CSC Academic All-America Football Second Team, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.  
 
Pulley, a fifth-year senior from Fort Worth, Texas, started eleven games for the Terriers this season and was second on the team in tackles with 85. His five interceptions led the Southern Conference and were the second-most in the nation. He returned two interceptions for touchdowns, which tied for the most in the nation. Pulley added 2.5 tackles for loss, five pass break-ups, one forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and a blocked punt. A finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award, he finished ninth in the voting.
 
A sociology and anthropology major, Pulley has a 3.64 grade point average. He has been named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll and the SoCon Fall All-Academic Team. He was a first-team All-America selection by the AP, Stats Perform, and AFCA.
 
This marks only the sixth Academic All-America honor for a Wofford football player. Previous recipients were Andrew Green (1992), Brian Bodor (2000), Ben Whitney (2004), Katon Bethay (2005), and James Zotto (2013).
 
To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average. They must compete in 90% of the games played during the season or must start in at least 66% of the games played.
