Terriers Come Back For A Draw Against Samford 1-1

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- The Wofford women's soccer team ended in a 1-1 tie against Samford, with the Terriers scoring the tying goal in the 63rd  minute on Thursday night at Shauna Yelton Field.

First Half
The Terriers and the Bulldogs went back-and-forth in the beginning with Samford mostly controlling the possession. Both teams had scoring opportunities in the first half with a shot from Samantha De Luca for Samford at 6:12, and a shot from Ella Jahromi at 13:12 that was saved by Peyton Hull.

The game continued with pressure from the Bulldogs. Navola totaled nine saves on 12 shots while finishing the half at 0-0, a first for the Terrier program since 2014.

Second Half
Samford came into the second half quickly, with a shot from Sam De Luca in the first 20 seconds. Navola made the save, but the Bulldogs quickly bounced back and found the first goal of the game by Sam Smith at 53:51.

Wofford refused to take a loss and fought for the ball into the offensive zone, and at 63:08, Maya Lake found her target and evened the score, putting it past Peyton Hull.

The Terriers and the Bulldogs continued to fight for possession in the last minutes, but both teams were unable to break the draw, ending the 90 minutes at 1-1.

This is the Terriers' first positive result against Samford since Oct. 11, 2009, when the Terriers took a 0-0 tie at Snyder Field.
