Wofford Baseball Earns a 10-6 Win over Saint Joseph’s

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford baseball team earned their second win of the weekend after an explosive five-run third inning and three-run homer by Andrew Mannelly to secure the 10-6 win over Saint Joseph's on Saturday night at Russell C. King Field.

Alec Bouchard made his start on the mound for the Terriers. Bouchard (2-0) pitched for four innings, throwing four strikeouts while giving up four hits and one run. John Gray served as the relief, pitching two innings with two hits and two runs given up while striking out three batters. Champ Davis closed it out for the Terriers, pitching for the last three innings. Davis gave up four hits and three runs, while striking out two batters. Five Terriers earned two runs in today's game: Niko Brini, Logan Tribble, Ben Timblin, Andrew Mannelly, and Hunter Herndon. Andrew Mannelly led Wofford with two runs, two hits, including a home run, and six RBI, a game high.

Alec Bouchard kept the Hawks scoreless for three innings. The Terriers found themselves on the board first in the third inning after four singles in a row would give Wofford a 5-0 advantage over Saint Joseph's. Bouchard would let up one run in the fourth, but the Terriers would come back in the sixth with a double by Niko Brini and a sacrifice fly by Andrew Mannelly to bring the score 6-1 Terriers. The Hawks would wake up in the seventh to bring in four runs on four hits to cut Wofford's lead down by one run. The Terriers would answer back in the eighth after keeping the Hawks run less. Andrew Mannelly, with 2 outs on the board, hit a homer to centerfield right under the scoreboard to bring in three runs to give a 9-5 score. The Terriers would score one more time when James Layman would get hit by the pitch with bases loaded to bring the score to 10-5. The Hawks would score one run in the ninth to bring a 10-6 score, but it wasn't enough to beat the Terriers.
