SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford baseball team (8-3) rallied in the seventh inning to take the lead but Saint Joseph's score five unanswered runs as the Terrier fell 10-6 on Sunday afternoon at Russell C. King Field.
Branton Little got the Sunday start for the Terriers in the series finale. Little pitched for three innings, throwing three strikeouts and giving up six hits and four runs.
Cade Bouknight and
Austin Laughlin made appearances in relief, combining for four strikeouts and only giving up three hits and one run to hold off the Hawks.
Corben Childers,
Hiram Lewis (0-1), and
PJ Fitzpatrick would follow on the mound.
The Hawks took an early 3-0 lead after the first two innings. Saint Joseph's held the Terriers scoreless until a sacrifice fly from
Niko Brini brought in
Lucas Manning that would cut the Hawk's lead 4-1. The Terriers would allow a home run to centerfield in the fourth to bring the score 5-1 in Saint Joseph's favor. Bouknight and Laughlin would hold the Hawks to that one run for three innings to help the Terriers find opportunities at the plate.
Hunter Herndon singled to start off the seventh inning for Wofford.

James Layman's sacrifice fly to left field would score
Alex Myers to cut the lead to 5-2. With bases loaded and no outs,
Niko Brini would send a ball to left field, resulting in a series of errors on the Hawks to bring in four runs. Brini's hit would make the score 6-5, giving the Terriers their first lead of the night. However, Saint Joseph's bullpen and aggressive hitting would hold off the Terriers for the last two innings to take back the lead and win 10-6. Andrew Gaines (1-0) took home the win for the Hawks.
