Women’s Basketball Loses Season Finale at Furman

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Wofford women's basketball team suffered a 64-42 loss in the season finale to Furman on Saturday afternoon at Timmons Arena. Wofford ends the season with a 16-12 record and a 10-4 mark in Southern Conference play.
 
With a 10-4 record in SoCon action, the Wofford women's basketball team has clinched a share of the 2025-26 Southern Conference Regular Season Championship. This is the second time in program history that Wofford has won a regular season championship.
 
Wofford finished the day shooting 16-of-55 (29.1%) from the field and made four threes. Furman shot 29-of-65 (44.6%) from the field and made three triples. Furman outrebounded Wofford 46-34 and outscored the Terriers 44-18 in the paint. The Paladins won the turnover battle, as Wofford committed 16 to Furman's 12.
 
Furman started the game with six unanswered points to take an early 6-0 lead. Wofford responded with a 9-0 run, however, giving the team a three-point lead with 4:32 left in the first quarter. Both teams would trade baskets from there, with a score of 14-all at the end of the first quarter.  
 
The teams continued to swap points to start the second quarter. Five-straight from the Paladins put Wofford down 24-19 with under five minutes left in the half. The Paladins held that lead for the remainder of the quarter until Queen Ikhiuwu scored a layup to bring the game within three points. Wofford trailed 29-26 at the end of the first half.
 
Furman scored first to start the second half, but Wofford got the game within two points, 34-32, with five minutes left in the quarter. With Wofford trailing by three points a few possessions later, Furman rattled off nine unanswered points to end the quarter to take a 47-35 lead into the final frame.
 
Wofford went scoreless for the first four minutes of gametime to start the fourth quarter. Furman capitalized with 16 points in that frame, putting Wofford down by 26. The Terriers were not able to mount a comeback, losing the game 64-42.
 
The Terriers will await their next opponent in the 2025-26 Southern Conference Tournament. Wofford closed the regular season with a 16-12 record and a 10-4 mark in conference play. It is just the third time in program history the team has reached double-digit win totals in conference play.
