DAVIDSON, N.C. – In the season opener, the Wofford College women's lacrosse team was defeated, 14-5, by the Davidson Wildcats on Saturday evening. The Wildcats had a 9-2 lead by halftime, but despite a strong third quarter, the Terriers fell.

It took both teams a while to find the net in the second quarter, but Davidson found it first with 6:30 left in the half. Wofford answered shortly after with an unassisted goal from McKenzie Moeller. The Wildcats found a strong burst of offense with four minutes left to play, scoring four goals to send the teams into halftime, Davidson leading, 9-2.

The third quarter was the slowest in scoring of the game, but the first in which Wofford held a scoring advantage. While Davidson struck first, Moeller found two goals to bring the game to 10-4. Their first goal was assisted by Brosseau, while the second came from a free-position shot.
