SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford softball team closed the third-annual Terrier Invite with a 10-4 victory against Kent State on Sunday afternoon at Hope Field. The Terriers improve to 4-1 for the second-straight season.

"It's been a lot of fun all weekend," said head coach
Chelsea Butler. "It was good to see the team show up today and pick up right where they left off last night."

Abby Greenwood got the start for Wofford in its second game of the weekend against Kent State. Greenwood tossed a complete game, giving up four runs on eight hits and striking out five batters. She started the game with three perfect innings.
Kaytlin Greenwood had herself a career day after going 2-of-3 with a career-high four RBI.
Addison Lucier continued her hot start with three hits and two RBI.
Brianna Stanley also posted three hits and two RBI.
Rivers Sampson and
Kalli Petty recorded an RBI as well.
Kaytlin Greenwood,
Kate Platte, and
Desirae Devine stole one base apiece.

It was a busy first inning for Wofford, as
Kate Platte scored the first run of the game off a
Brianna Stanley single.
Kalli Petty drove in
Addison Lucier on the next at bat.
Kaytlin Greenwood finished the inning with a three RBI single to right center, giving the Terriers a 5-0 lead to start the game. Neither team scored again until the fourth, and it was Kent State finding two runs to shorten the deficit to 5-2.
Brianna Stanley followed that up with an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth. The Golden Flashes scored two more runs in the sixth inning, but Wofford answered with four runs at the bottom half of the frame.
Kaytlin Greenwood singled up the middle for her fourth RBI, and
Addison Lucier tripled to right center to drive in two more runs.
Rivers Sampson finished off the scoring with another RBI. Wofford would keep Kent State scoreless in the seventh to secure a 10-4 win.

The Terriers will stay at home as the team will host the Wofford Invitational from February 13-15. Wofford will play a total of five games across the weekend against UNC Wilmington, UMBC, and St. Bonaventure. Wofford games on Saturday and Sunday can be streamed live on ESPN+.
