CLEMSON, S.C. – The Wofford softball team lost 10-1 to Georgia Southern in the final game of the Tiger Invitational hosted by Clemson University on Sunday morning. The Terriers fall to 15-4 on the season.
 
Margaret Axelson suffered the loss on Sunday morning, dropping her record to 4-2 this season. Axelson went 6.0 innings with seven runs allowed and two strikeouts. Natalya Salo pitched the final inning, allowing three runs. Emry Masterson scored the only run of the game for Wofford. Rivers Sampson, Addison Lucier, Kalli Petty, and Abbi Campbell all recorded hits. Campbell and Masterson stole one base apiece.
 
Georgia Southern got on the board first, taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Wofford could not answer in the bottom half of the inning. The Eagles added one more run in the second. Both teams would go scoreless for the next three innings until Emry Masterson scored from a Rivers Sampson sacrifice fly. Wofford would trail 3-1 at the end of the inning. After a scoreless sixth inning for both teams, Georgia Southern found seven runs in the top of the seventh to stretch its lead to 10-1. Wofford could not overcome the deficit.
 
The Terriers will be back at Hope Field on Tuesday, March 3, for a midweek matchup against College of Charleston. First pitch is slated for 6:00 p.m. and can be streamed live on ESPN+.
