Wofford Baseball Earns Series Split with Princeton

SPARTANBURG, S.C. –The Wofford baseball team (13-8) split their four-game weekend series against Princeton with a 5-2 win on Sunday afternoon at Russell C. King Field. The Terriers were down 2-1 at the seventh inning stretch but rallied to score four runs in the bottom half of the seventh to take the lead.

Austin Laughlin got the start and pitched for two innings, giving up three hits and one run while striking out three batters. Miller Alston followed in relief for the first time this season after missing most of the 2025 season due to injury and had two strikeouts. Corben Childers, Davis Rivers and Hiram Lewis followed in relief. Champ Davis (2-0) closed the game out for the Terriers, pitching for three innings. Davis gave up two hits and no runs while striking out two batters to earn the win. Cade Collins led the Terriers at the plate with two runs on one hit with two RBI. Logan Tribble followed with one run on one hit and one RBI. Ben Timblin ended the day with two hits and two RBI.

The Terriers got on the board in the bottom of the first inning. Cade Collins was walked and a sacrifice bunt by Niko Brini to advanced Collins. Logan Tribble hit a single to centerfield to score Collins for the 1-0 lead. The Tigers struck back as back-to-back singles would help Princeton tie the game 1-1 in the second. The ballgame remained scoreless for four innings before either team would see a chance to score again.

The Tigers took the lead in the seventh inning when Princeton had an RBI double to left field to bring the score 2-1. The Terriers' defense was quick to stop the Tigers from any more chances, as catcher Raul Feliz would tag out the third base runner in the attempt to come home and two runners were stranded. Wofford's batting order would come in hot at the bottom of the seventh to retake the lead. After Harrison Campi was hit by a pitch, pinch hitter Marc Quarrie hit a single to center field, and a sacrifice bunt advanced the runners. With one out, Cade Collins hit a double to center field to score both runners for a 3-2 lead. With two outs and two runners on base, Ben Timblin would hit a two-RBI double to extend Wofford's lead to 5-2.

Champ Davis would hold off the Tigers in the eighth and ninth innings with a combined three runners left on base to close out the 5-2 win and split the weekend series with Princeton.
