Wofford Women’s Lacrosse Closes Out Non-Conference At Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. – Wofford College women's lacrosse team fell to the Clemson Tigers, 22-3, on Monday evening at Conklin Field. The Terriers scored first, but the #10 ranked Tigers, took the lead at the 10:37 mark of the first quarter and held the advantage for the remainder of the game.

Wofford (2-7) was led by goals from Olivia Graebner, Emma Stalteri and Ella Bartlett. The Tigers held the shot advantage, 39-10. Wofford had 16 ground balls to Clemson's 23, led by Brooke Meltcher and Barrett Rowe's four. Wofford caused eight turnovers to the Tigers' 13, with Rowe causing three herself.

Olivia Graebner opened scoring in the game after three minutes, but it took one minute for Clemson to respond on the other end. The Tigers grabbed their first lead of the game just 31 seconds later. Wofford could not find a response in the first quarter. In that time, Clemson extended its lead by five more goals, 7-1.

The momentum stayed in Clemson's way, adding to their goal tally one minute into the quarter. The Tigers added one more goal with 10 minutes left to play in the half before scoring slowed to a halt. Wofford held the Tigers to one shot on goal for the next eight minutes. Clemson broke through with 2:33 left to play, scoring two quick goals before the teams went into halftime, 11-1.

Clemson opened the scoring in the second half, but Wofford was able to respond with a free-position goal from Emma Stalteri. The Tigers added four more to their tally before Ella Bartlett converted a free position shot of her own before the end of the third quarter, 16-3. Clemson scored first in the final quarter with 11:34 left to play in the game. They would go on to add five more to cap off the game, 22-3. This marked the least goals conceded by the Terriers in their series against their ACC neighbors.

Wofford will return home to start off conference play against Longwood on Wednesday, March 25. The Terriers will host the Lancers at 12 p.m. in Gibbs Stadium with all action streamed on ESPN+.
