SPARTANBURG, S.C. –The Wofford baseball team cruised past Presbyterian College by an 11-2 margin on Tuesday evening at Russell C. King Field. The Terriers (26-11, 8-1) put up five runs in the first three innings to boost themselves over the Blue Hose (8-30).
Sheldon Egger made the midweek mound start for Wofford, pitching five innings. Egger (1-1) secured his first win of the season with only one run allowed on four hits, along with five strikeouts.
Hiram Lewis,
Cole Draper,
Corben Childers and
Davis Rivers followed in relief for one inning each.
Ben Timblin led the Terriers with two home runs and three RBI.
Brady Gold followed, going 3-of-4 with one run and three RBI.
The Terriers allowed one hit in the top of the first inning. Wofford would start their half of the first inning with two outs, but
Logan Tribble singled to right field and stole second base.
Ben Timblin followed up on a 1-0 count with a home run to centerfield to put Wofford on the board first with a 2-0 lead. The hits kept coming as
Marc Quarrie tripled and
Hunter Herndon singled to make it a 3-0 ballgame. The Terriers allowed just one hit from Presbyterian in the top of the second, and with two outs in the bottom of the frame
Niko Brini hit the scoreboard in left centerfield with a solo home run to give Wofford a 4-0 advantage.
After a scoreless top of the third,
Ben Timblin led off with his second home run of the game to left field to start Wofford's third inning. The Blue Hose didn't see their first run until the fourth inning when a solo home cut the lead to 5-1, and they added a run in the top of the sixth for a 5-2 game.
Lucas Manning and
Brady Gold hit back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the sixth, Manning with a two-run homer out to left field and Gold with a solo home run, to lift the Terriers 8-2 over the Blue Hose. Wofford's pitching held Presbyterian to a quick 1-2-3 inning as the Terriers ramped up their momentum to close out the game. With bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, a balk advanced
Alex Myers home for a 9-2 score.
Brady Gold followed up with a two-RBI single for an 11-2 advantage. The Terriers did not allow a hit by the Blue Hose in the last two innings to secure their 11-2 win.

Wofford will return home to finish the series against the Bulldogs on Saturday, April 18, at 4 p.m. and Sunday, April 19, at 2 p.m.
