SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College women's lacrosse team scored five straight goals in the second half to separate themselves from Presbyterian College, securing a 15-11 senior day victory on Saturday afternoon in Gibbs Stadium. Presbyterian led, 9-7, with nine minutes to play in the third quarter, but five different Terriers scored in a run to push Wofford past the Blue Hose.
"I think [
Carlie Cutinella] was the offensive spark that we needed," said head coach
Jessie Aguglia. "We started moving the ball better in the second half. I think in the first half, we let senior day get to us. But once we settled in and played what we are good at, we moved the ball well and found the middle well."
Wofford (7-8, 5-1) was led by a career-high five goals from
Carlie Cutinella. She was accompanied by two goals from
Kaitlyn Bellanca.
Katie Brosseau and
Emma Stalteri had a goal and two assists each, while six other Terriers found their names on the scoresheet. The Terriers held the shot advantage, 30-20. Presbyterian picked up 15 ground balls, while Wofford grabbed 12. Wofford caused five turnovers to the Blue Hose's six, with

The Blue Hose scored first, capitalizing on an early Terrier turnover. Their lead then doubled at 8:40. After a slow start for the Terriers,

Katie Brosseau found
Kaitlyn Bellanca in front of goal to tie the game, but PC was able to snag a last-minute goal to hold the edge at the end of the first quarter, 3-2.
Bellanca found the net after one minute of play in the second quarter, with
Emma Stalteri getting the assist.
McKenzie Moeller grabbed her 40th career goal and Wofford's first lead of the day with 11 minutes left to play in the first half. Two minutes later, the Blue Hose found a goal to keep the pressure up, but
Carlie Cutinella pushed the Terriers back ahead with two quick goals. Presbyterian responded with three goals of their own, including two from free-position shots. With 14 seconds left, the Terriers surged forward off the draw as Cutinella grabbed her third goal of the game to tie it up before halftime, 7-7.

She was able to grab another point before the end of the third quarter, assisting Cutinella to tie the game with one minute to play. The Terriers did not slow down as they charged down the field, winning a free-position shot.
Sara Fenwick converted the shot to put Wofford up heading into the final quarter, 10-9.
Brooke Meltcher caused a turnover in the defensive third and picked up the groundball before going coast-to-coast by herself for the first goal of the fourth quarter.
Ella Bartlett scored shortly after with a reverse shot with her back toward the goal off the feed from
Olivia Graebner. The Blue Hose were able to cut off the Wofford five-goal streak after an offensive turnover from the Terriers. Despite this, Moeller found Cutinella less than a minute later to push the lead back to three, 13-10. Graebner continued the momentum with a free-position goal with six minutes remaining in the game. Wofford will continue conference play against Mercer on Wednesday, April 22. The Terriers will take on the Mercer Bears at 4 p.m., with all action streamed on ESPN+.
