CHATTANOOGA, TENN. – The Wofford College softball team overcame a three-run deficit after scoring five runs in the fifth inning to defeat ETSU 5-4 on Friday evening at Frost Stadium. The Terriers will take on the winner of No. 3 Western Carolina and No. 5 Chattanooga tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.

Abby Greenwood pitched her second complete game of the tournament to earn her 14
th win of the season. Greenwood allowed three earned runs on nine hits while striking out two batters.
Desirae Devine put the team ahead with a three RBI double in the fifth inning.
Kaytlin Greenwood had a two RBI double before that as well.
Addison Lucier went 2-of-4 from the plate with a run scored.
Brianna Stanley and
Emry Masterson each recorded a hit. ETSU out hit Wofford 9-6. Wofford committed two errors while ETSU had one.

ETSU started the game off hot, taking a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The Buccaneers threatened again in the second inning with runners on second and third, but the Wofford defense held strong. The Terriers had a couple of opportunities as well, with
Addison Lucier advancing to third in the bottom of the third inning. Wofford could not convert, however, as the team trailed 3-0 entering the fifth frame.

Addison Lucier and
Abbi Campbell on first and second, respectively,
Kaytlin Greenwood doubled to left center to shorten the deficit to one run, 3-2.
Kate Platte and
Brianna Stanley followed that up with a pair of walks to load the bases. A few at bats later,
Desirae Devine cleared the bases with a double to left center to give Wofford a 5-3 lead. ETSU was able to respond with a run in the sixth, shortening the Wofford advantage to 5-4. After going scoreless in the bottom half of the frame, the Bucs would place a runner on third with two outs in the top of the seventh. Once again, the Wofford defense held firm, forcing a pop up to end the game and give the Terriers a 5-4 win.

Wofford stays alive with the win and will take on either No. 3 Western Carolina or No. 5 Chattanooga tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m. The winner of the elimination game will play again at 4:00 p.m. tomorrow.
