SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford College and AFL have announced the Student-Athlete Leaders of the Month for May. The month's honorees are Alec Bouchard from the baseball team and Desirae Devine from the softball team.
Bouchard, a junior pitcher from Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, was named the SoCon Pitcher of the Year and a first-team All-SoCon selection. The junior had a 2.83 ERA over 86.0 innings pitched, starting 15 games. Bouchard secured two SoCon Pitcher of the Week selections this season. He had a 9-3 record to lead the SoCon in wins and his 104 strikeouts were the second-most in the league. He is a finance major.
Devine, a junior outfielder from Cape Coral, Florida, earned first team All-SoCon honors after leading the team with a program record 24 stolen bases. Devine was fourth in the SoCon with a .395 batting average, and she was the only player in the conference to record over 10 steals while batting at least .375. Devine finished third on the team with 49 hits, 35 runs scored, and was fifth with 28 RBI. A psychology major, she has been named to the SoCon Academic Honor Roll.
