This will be Kevin Dempsey's second season with Wofford, after ending last season with a 6-9-6 record and 2-4-3 in conference play. Dempsey led the Terriers to the quarterfinals of the SoCon Tournament where they fell to No. 1 Samford. Wofford entered the conference tournament with a positive result after two wins and a draw for the first time since 2022.

This is head coach Andy McNabs sixth season with UNCA after ending the 2025 season with a 5-9-3 record. UNCA missed the Big South Tournament after ending conference play with a 1-5-2 record.

UNC Asheville added 12 new players in the offseason; half of them are freshmen. Sophomore Lilly Graumann returns to the lineup for the Bulldogs, scoring three goals for UNCA in 2025. Three of UNCA's players were named in the Big South Preseason Players to Watch. Junior Manuela Schreier was listed among the midfielders, while junior Campbell Stoll and sophomore Kathleen Doane were listed among the defenders.
