Wofford College Athletics

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Wofford volleyball team took down the Davidson College Wildcats 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at John M. Belk Arena in Davidson, North Carolina. The Terriers improve to 2-0 on the season while Davidson drops to 1-2.
 
Four Terriers finished with double-digit kills, led by a team-high 16 kills from Chloe Smith. Natalie Arnold and Avery White followed behind with 13 kills each, while Bradley Brown posted 12. Maddy Frazier led the passing efforts with 27 assists. Taylor Pecht dished out 20 to go along with 12 digs for her first double-double of the season. Pecht, Smith, and Megan Brown totaled two service aces apiece.
 
Bradley Brown paced the defense with four solo blocks. Natalie Arnold, Charlotte Bell, and Madison Barrera finished with two block assists each. Laney Klika totaled 22 digs to lead the team, while Ella Coleman finished with 15.
 
Wofford closed the day with 58 kills on a .185 hitting percentage compared to 46 kills on .153 hitting from Davidson. The Terriers posted eight service aces to Davidson's three. The Wildcats won the battle at the net, finishing the match with nine blocks while Wofford had eight.
 
Davidson took a quick 3-0 lead in the first set of the match, but Wofford fought back to eventually tie the stanza at eight-all. Three-straight kills from Chloe Smith along with an ace by Taylor Pecht evened the set. Wofford took control from there, going up 15-11 at the media timeout. The team would take set one 25-19 powered by eight kills from Chloe Smith in the first set.
 
Wofford grabbed an early 6-2 lead in set two thanks to a couple of kills from Natalie Arnold and Bradley Brown. The team was able to keep a 15-10 lead heading into the media timeout, but Davidson tied the set at 21-all later on. It was an 8-2 run that brought the Wildcats back within striking distance. Avery White helped end the skid as Wofford won set two 25-22.
 
Davidson jumped on top first in what was a back-and-forth third set with Wofford trailing 6-3 early on. Five-straight points a few rallies later put the Terriers ahead 10-8, however. Davidson fired off its own 7-1 run to regain the lead, 15-11. The Wildcats would hold on to win set three 25-18.
 
Davidson once again held an early 7-4 lead in the fourth set. The Terriers finally tied the set at 14-14 and would take a one-point lead into the media timeout. Back-to-back aces from Megan Brown helped stretch the lead to three points, 18-15. Wofford was able to keep the Wildcats at bay from there, taking set four 25-21 and the match 3-1.
 
Wofford will be back in action on Tuesday, September 1, for the 2026 home opener against Presbyterian at 6:00 p.m. A trip to NC State from September 4-6 will follow.
