Volleyball Defeats Presbyterian 3-1 in Home Opener

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College volleyball team defeated the Presbyterian College Blue Hose 3-1 on Tuesday evening at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium in the 2026 home opener. Presbyterian claimed the first set, but Wofford was able to respond with three sets in a row to improve to 3-0 on the season while Presbyterian drops to 3-1.
 
Three Terriers finished with double-digit kills, but Natalie Arnold's career-high 18 kills on a .552 hitting percentage paced the team. Chloe Smith followed right behind Arnold with 17 kills and 14 digs for her first double-double of the season. Bradley Brown rounded out the group with 10 kills on a .421 hitting percentage. Taylor Pecht and Maddy Frazier orchestrated the attack, finishing the night with 25 and 24 assists, respectively. Smith led the team with four service aces while Frazier recorded two.
 
Laney Klika led the team with 21 digs on the night, along with 14 from Chloe Smith. Maddy Frazier notched 11 in what was her first double-double of the season. Bradley Brown had a team-high three blocks. Avery White and Natalie Arnold finished with two apiece.
 
Wofford totaled 61 kills on a .279 hitting percentage compared to 43 kills with a .144 hitting percentage from Presbyterian. The Terriers closed the night with eight aces to Presbyterian's two. The Blue Hose controlled the battle at the net, posting nine blocks compared to Wofford's six.
 
Wofford jumped out to an early 4-1 lead in set one after back-to-back aces from Chloe Smith. A few rallies later Presbyterian rattled off five-straight points to take a 9-7 lead, however. Despite Wofford trailing 21-17 later in the set, the Terriers were able to tie the stanza at 24-all. Wofford could not complete the comeback, losing set one 27-25.
 
The Terriers responded in set two, taking a 6-0 lead with help from Charlotte Bell, Natalie Arnold, and Chloe Smith. Wofford continued to keep the pressure on, going up by as many as 11 points, 23-12. The team would win set two 25-14.
 
Set three started with another Wofford run, as the team led 4-0 early on. After another 6-0 run a few rallies later, the Terriers held a 12-3 advantage. Maddy Frazier highlighted the run with back-to-back aces. Presbyterian was able to cut the deficit to five points, 20-15, later in the set, but Wofford held firm to take set three 25-17.
 
Set four was back-and forth until Wofford scored three-straight points to give the team an 11-7 lead. The Terriers built on the momentum after that, going up 19-13. Wofford used a 7-2 run to ice the match, winning set four 25-16 and the match 3-1.
 
Wofford is back in action this weekend as the team will travel to Raleigh, North Carolina, for a tournament hosted by N.C. State. The Terriers will take on Charlotte, N.C. State, and George Washington from September 4-6.
