Paul Harrison is in his sixth season with the Terrier coaching staff. He was named associate head coach in the fall of 2011. With the Terriers, Harrison assists with on-court coaching, opponent scouting, and recruiting. Prior to Wofford, he served as an assistant coach at the College of Charleston, Long Island University and Southeastern Louisiana University.
Last season Wofford posted a 19-14 overall record and advanced to the postseason for the third straight time. Kevin Giltner and Brad Loesing earned All-SoCon honors. In 2010-11, the Terriers repeated as Southern Conference Champions and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. The team posted back-to-back 20 win seasons for the first time in over 40 years. He primarily works with the post players in practice and both Noah Dahlman and Tim Johnson earned spots on the All-Conference team.
In 2009-10, Harrison was instrumental in the develpoment of the Terriers into Southern Conference Champions with a 26-9 overall record. The field goal and three-point field goal percentage defenses were first in the conference and the scoring defense was third in the SoCon.
In 2008-09, Harrison helped guide the Terriers to twelve wins in Southern Conference play and the first winning overall record since Wofford moved to NCAA Division I.
In his first season on the staff, he helped lead the team to a 16-16 overall record, only the second .500 season in the school’s Division I history. In addition, the team reached the quarterfinals of the Southern Conference Tournament for the first time in four seasons.
Harrision was named to the coaching staff on July 18, 2007 by Mike Young. Previously Harrison was an assistant coach at the College of Charleston from 1996 to 1998 as a graduate assistant coach. During those two seasons, the team was 53-9 overall. The Cougars won the TransAmerica conference twice and played in two NCAA Championships, advancing to the second round in 1997.
He moved to Northeast Conference member Long Island University for the 1998-99 season and then returned to College of Charleston for two seasons from 1999-2001. During his final two years in Charleston, the Cougars went 46-13 and won a pair of Southern Conference South Division titles.
Harrison then enrolled in the Tulane University Law School and earned his Juris Doctor in 2004. While in New Orleans, he stayed involved in basketball, helping the New Orleans Hornets in their film room.
After law school, Harrison was an assistant coach at Southland Conference member Southeastern Louisiana University in 2005-06.
During the 2006-07 season, while practicing law in New Orleans, La., Harrison assisted at Metairie Country Day and helped the club to the 2007 Louisiana 1A state championship game.
A native of Larchmont, New York, he graduated from Washington and Lee in 1993 with a degree in history. He and his wife, Heather, have two children, Grace and Henry. They reside in Spartanburg.
