Terriers drop road match to Lady Paladins

Box Score GREENVILLE, S.C. -- A pair of goals by Rachel Fry were all host Furman needed as it garnered a 2-0 victory over Wofford Sunday afternoon in Southern Conference women's soccer action at Stone Stadium in Greenville, S.C.

Fry netted both Lady Paladin scores and initially put the hosts on top at 14:06 when she corralled a loose ball inside the six-yard box, which had just deflected off the far post on a shot by teammate Anna Betton.

The second score came at 33:24 when Fry again poked the ball behind Wofford (5-7-2, 1-3-1 SoCon) goalkeeper Katie McChesney. Following a serve from Sara El-Shami, who was standing in the middle of the field, to Graham Marchman on the right flank, Marchman then sent a cross to Fry in front of the Terrier net.

Furman (11-4, 5-1 SoCon) held off a late Wofford flurry of shots in the second half, including a point-blank attempt by sophomore Monica Ploetzke which was saved by Briana da Mota to preserve her shutout. Both keepers were credited with five saves on the afternoon.

The Terriers will return to action with a 6 p.m. Friday match-up with Chattanooga at Snyder Field in the next-to-last home contest of the season.
